2011 Acura SUV ZDX

2011 Acura SUV review ZDX

First impressions suggest the 2011 Acura Zdx muscular performance and handling. Zdx is chiseled body panels and rounded corners to give a rare charm of a crossover SUV. But the form, unfortunately, comes at the expense of function, especially if you think that is basically a rebodied Zdx Acura MDX.

On the positive side, 2011 Acura Zdx interior features skillfully combines luxury and modernity. And 'single "Monolith", the center console that fades to black when turned off, and a rich hand-stitched leather surfaces surprisingly a lot of gifts. But it is to relieve the load and rear-seat comfort problems with the 1500-pound rating Zdx spread tow (which corresponds to the limit pound MDX 5000).

The roofline slopes ZDX most spectacular open 3 inches tall to the back seats, half a challenge even for adults to find comfort. It also removes around one third of the maximum cargo space in the MDX. Be about 5 inches shorter than the MDX, and a low center of gravity, the ZDX be blessed with better handling. But in tests, the MDX meets or exceeds the ZDX in each performance indicator.

All things considered, seems to place Zdx 2011 Acura style over substance, just as similar to the BMW X6 (though the Acura costs about $ 10,000 less than the BMW). This is an interesting idea to create a sports utility vehicle for all seasons, which is about driving, instead of pull. But we also think this is Zdx the vehicle compared to more traditional choices, such as the Acura MDX, BMW X5 or Land Rover, LR4.

Body styles, trim levels and options

2011 Acura Zdx is a medium-sized five-passenger crossover SUV. Standard equipment includes 19-inch wheels, automatic xenon headlights, fog lights, heated outside mirrors, a panoramic sunroof, car lighting environment, back-up rear view camera mirror, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, bi- zone automatic climate control, power tilt and telescopic steering column, heated power front seats (10-way adjustable driver seat with memory, eight-way front passenger), leather seats and interiors, onboard computer, the ' auto-dimming rearview mirror, Bluetooth, and power products division. Eight speaker stereo with an in-dash six-CD changer, satellite radio and USB / auxiliary audio jack is standard.

Two major options packages Zdx. Technology Package adds keyless ignition and entry, perforated leather seats, high quality navigation system for real-time traffic and weather information, MultiView Vice-room, added a Bluetooth phone functionality with streaming audio and update Acura / ELS Surround Sound Stereo with Built-in 15GB hard drive. Advance Package includes these features, as well as an electronically adjustable suspension shock absorbers, blind spot warning system, adaptive cruise control, collision warning system and mitigation, heated and ventilated front seats and steering wheel.

Propulsion and Performance

ZDX Power 2011 is a 3.7-liter V6 that produces 300 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control manual is the only transmission available. The EPA estimated fuel economy of 16 mpg and 19 mpg city/23 mpg highway driving combined. The ZDX maximum towing capacity is 1500 pounds disappointing.

Zdx same features as the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system found in other Acuras, which is able to move the different power to individual wheels to maximize traction and cornering grip, and weather.

In recent tests, acceleration from zero to ZDX 60 mph in 7.3 seconds, which is about one second slower than the BMW X5 and X6.

Security

Standard safety equipment for the 2011 Acura ZDX includes disc brakes with ABS with brake assist, stability control, traction control, side airbags for front seats, full-length side curtain airbags and active headrests. Choosing to advance package adds system blind spot monitoring and collision mitigation braking, along with adaptive cruise control. This system detects the likelihood of a collision and alerts the driver with visual and audible warnings. If the driver takes no action, the system activates the brakes and tightens the belt of the driver. If the system considers an unavoidable collision, the braking force increases and tightens the front seatbelts.

The Acura ZDX have not been evaluated by the new government, more grueling 2011 crash test procedures. Sine 2010 notes (which is not comparable to the test in 2011) resulted in a perfect five stars for front and side protection for all passengers. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded its highest score ZDX "good" in offset frontal crash test.

In braking tests, the ZDX stop to 60 mph in 130 feet, a little longer than the average car of this class.

Interior Design and Special Features

2011 Acura Zdx cabin has a interesting, remarkable for its intriguing design and liberal use of the skin. The controls are laid out more to other Acuras, but the monolithic central console, which fades to black when you turn the machine off is a unique Zdx. There are a lot of buttons on the driver's reach, but most of the activity is very simple. Increasing technology and advanced packages, or general disorder of the central console looks, though. Hand-stitched leather is decorated with a dash pad, center console and door panels are expensive look and feel.

Front passengers are treated to comfortable seats and support, but relegated to the back will probably find shelter less hospitable. The sloping roofline reduces clearance to the point that even the average-size adults to cool off against the flag. Release is also notably lacking, exacerbated by the seat cushions fitted uncomfortably close to the ground.

The ZDX also faces short space of payload. Behind the rear seats up to 26 cubic feet to be drunk by the glass. With the seats folded flat, cargo space increased by maximum 56 blocks, away from other luxury SUV medium.

Driving Impressions

Despite the sporty, casual look, not 2011 Acura Zdx do anything better than the MDX crossover - a sporty SUV on the market - it is based. SH-AWD system offers a surprising level of grip in corners by dividing the torque to the wheels that need it most. Advance by selecting the package and its adjustable suspension may seem a glamorous update of the performance, but we did not find sufficient to justify the added advantage of (and significant) cost.

3.7-liter V6 offers a soundtrack that inspired it, but the power that produces a lack of torque at low and is less than impressive. A six-speed automatic transmission upshifts quickly and smoothly, but, but usually slow downshifts.
