Simultaneous launch in Europe and North America.
Production of the new generation Ford Focus will begin simultaneously in Europe and North America in late 2010 with the single market launch in early 2011. Initial production will focus on Saarlouis (Germany), Michigan (USA) and Chongqing plant of the Assembly (China).
The new Focus will be a maximum of 10 unique models to be built from new Ford C-car platform, which is expected to generate total sales of all parts of two million units annually by 2012. The first of these will be the new Ford C-MAX Ford C-MAX Grand - unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009 - to launch in Europe in the second half of 2010.
"Customers want more and more global than small cars with low fuel consumption, but without sacrificing style, technology, connectivity and quality of driving large vehicles, they ask," said Derrick Kuzak, Ford's vice president for global product development .

The new Ford Focus was developed by an international team led by Ford vehicle center of European small and medium Excellence Merkenich, near Cologne, Germany, with the development of power train led by a team similar to the Technical Center Ford in Dunton, England. The vehicle is designed without compromise to satisfy all customer requirements and regulation of major global markets.
In developing the car for global markets, the production team in Europe has been able to draw on the experience of recent programs such as the acclaimed new Ford Fiesta, and was supported by the experience of the vehicle and engine technology specialists located in the Ford engineering center in Dearborn, Michigan.
